The Piggy Bank Dinners are hitting the road. The brain-child of Taqueria del Sol and Green Olive Media will be hosted in Nashville, Tenn. on Sunday, July 27.This dinner will be the fifth installment in the Piggy Bank Dinners, and the first Taqueria del Sol has held outside of Atlanta. Already rooted in the quaint neighborhood of 12^th Avenue South, Taqueria del Sol wanted to share these popular dinners with Music City. The Piggy Bank Dinners are an ongoing culinary series featuring specialty guest chefs, hosted by Taqueria del Sol co-owners and SFA members, Mike Klank and chef Eddie Hernandez, with proceeds benefiting the Southern Foodways Alliance. The Southern Food Alliance is a non-profit organization serving to celebrate the diverse food cultures, history and individual talent of the American South.

Nashville’s managing partner Tony Halligan, and the entire Taqueria del Sol family, welcome Executive Chef, Eddie Hernandez as he teams with Pitmaster, Carey Bringle at his restaurant, Peg Leg Porker, located in Nashville neighborhood, The Gulch. Hernandez and Bringle have teamed up to create an unforgettable menu. Each chef will prepare unique courses that will complement the distinct styles of their respective restaurants. Chef Bringle will also serve up the welcome cocktail called the Pork & Stormy (made with Peg Leg Porker Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey, ginger beer, and lime juice). Guests can expect Bringle’s traditional twist on Memphis barbeque and Hernandez’s creative South meets Southwest style, making for a delicious culinary experience.

Bringle was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer, at age 17. He went through eight months of intensive Chemo Therapy and lost his right leg. After winning a hard-fought battle with the overwhelming support of friends and family, he emerged with a more positive outlook on life, realizing that every day brought a new adventure, opportunity for new experiences, and—most importantly—a chance to eat more great food. It is this zest for life, positive attitude and sense of humor that makes Bringle one of the most watched Pitmasters in food right now.
